How the delivered total is worked out
- Items: the dealer's current single-unit price times your quantity (check/wire price, or the card price the dealer lists).
- Shipping: the dealer's published domestic fee for that order size, or free above its threshold. At Cost Metals publishes a range ($6.38 to $25), so we use $25.
- Payment fee: only where a dealer publishes one separately from its prices (At Cost Metals).
- Not ranked: a dealer with no published fee for that order size, or no card price, is listed under the table but never ranked. Unknown shipping is never counted as free.
What the total leaves out
- Sales tax. Many states exempt bullion; some tax it. Check your state.
- Quantity discounts. We use each dealer's single-unit price. Many dealers charge less per coin at 20, 100 or 500 pieces, so large orders may come in lower.
- Payment limits and member prices. Some dealers cap card orders or set a wire minimum; At Cost Metals also sells to paid members at lower prices, which we do not rank.

Frequently asked questions
What is the true cost of buying gold or silver online?
It is the price of the coins or bars plus shipping, plus any fee for how you pay. A dealer with the lowest listed price can still cost more delivered on a small order if it charges for shipping. This calculator adds the dealer's published shipping fee and payment fee to today's listed price and sorts dealers by the total.
Is it cheaper to pay by wire or by credit card for bullion?
Usually by wire, check or ACH. Most dealers list a cash price and a card price about 4% higher; switch the payment box to see the card totals. At Cost Metals instead adds a funding fee: 0.97% for ACH, $20 for a wire or 3.99% for a card, per its How It Works page.
Which dealer has free shipping on small bullion orders?
Among the dealers we list, free-shipping thresholds run from $149 (Hero Bullion) to $10,000 (Bullion Standard), per each dealer's policy page read Oct 30, 2026. The shipping table on this page shows every rule we use.
Why are some dealers not ranked?
We only rank a dealer when we can work out the full delivered total. If a dealer does not publish its shipping fee for that order size, or does not list a card price, it is shown below the table with its item price but not ranked. Unknown shipping is never treated as free.
