The best place to buy silver is the dealer that charges least over spot for the silver you want. That cost has to include shipping and your payment method. This scorecard measures exactly that, from our own price checks on 8 silver products: Silver Eagles, Maple Leafs, Britannias, rounds, 10 oz, kilo and 100 oz bars and 90% junk silver.

How the ranking works

  1. Median premium: the middle check/wire premium over spot across every silver product where the dealer had a fresh (under 24 hours) single-unit price.
  2. Shipping: for a $1,000 order. If the dealer's published free-shipping threshold is at or below $1,000, shipping adds nothing. If it is higher, we add the published flat fee as a percentage of the order.
  3. All-in premium = median premium + shipping. Lowest ranks first. A dealer needs at least 2 priced silver products to be ranked. Dealers with an unknown shipping policy are listed separately, not assumed free.
  4. The card/PayPal surcharge is shown, not ranked, because it only matters if you pay by card. Sales tax is excluded.

Dealers don't all stock (or let us read prices for) the same products. A median over 4 products tells you less than one over 8. The “Silver products priced” column shows how many each figure uses. For a strict like-for-like comparison on one product, use the per-product pages linked from each dealer name.

Each dealer name links to our page for that dealer's lowest-premium silver product, where you can compare every dealer side by side and buy.
