Free Bullion Price API and MCP Server

Bullion Price Check has a free, read-only API and MCP server. It gives live gold, silver and platinum spot prices, the lowest current dealer prices for the 17 coins and bars we track, and the same calculators this site uses: melt value, junk silver, scrap gold, premium over spot, true cost and the gold-silver ratio. There is no key and no sign-up. Use the REST endpoints under /api/v1/ or add the MCP server https://bullionpricecheck.com/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.

MCP server URL

Streamable HTTP transport, no sign-in, 10 read-only tools. Each tool only reads data; none can buy, sell, change or delete anything.

Add it to Claude

1. In Claude, open Customize › Connectors (or Settings › Connectors).
2. Choose Add custom connector.
3. Name it Bullion Price Check and paste https://bullionpricecheck.com/mcp as the URL.
4. Under Authentication pick No sign in, then Add.

Claude Code users can run:

Add it to ChatGPT

1. On ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
2. Name it Bullion Price Check and enter https://bullionpricecheck.com/mcp as the server URL.
3. Choose No authentication, accept the warning, and select Create as a plugin. Install it, then type @ in a chat to use it.

Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings.

Every response carries attribution, source_url (the matching page on this site) and data_as_of. Errors come back as JSON with a plain message that says what to fix, for example {"error":{"code":"bad_request","message":"weight must be greater than 0."}}.

Where the data comes from

• Spot prices come from gold-api.com, read at each price refresh.
• Dealer prices are the single-unit prices our collector reads from each dealer's own product page, about every hour from 6 AM to midnight ET. Only prices checked in the last 24 hours are returned. The methodology page has the rules for dropping bad prices.
• Shipping and payment fees for the true cost tool are hand-read from each dealer's published policy page (see the fee table).
• Coin silver content (0.7234 oz per $1 face for 90% coins) is from US law and the US Mint, as on our melt value pages.
• Ranking: dealer lists are sorted by price only. A dealer labeled Partner pays to list, never to rank. The API returns no affiliate or dealer links; each answer links to the matching page on this site.

Limits

• Please keep to about 120 requests a minute from one IP address. Heavier use can get HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header.
• Prices change about once an hour, so cache answers for a few minutes. REST answers are sent with a 60-second cache header.
• CORS is open, so you can call the API from a web page.
• The API asks for no personal data and has no accounts. Requests pass through Cloudflare as described in our privacy policy.

Free-use terms

• Free for any use, including in commercial apps, sites and AI tools. No key, no fee.
• Credit is required when you display our data. Show a visible credit that reads Data by Bullion Price Check and links to bullionpricecheck.com. How you mark that link (for example nofollow) is up to you.
• Prices are information only, not advice and not an offer. Confirm price, shipping and terms on the dealer's own site before you buy.
• Don't present the data as your own or suggest that Bullion Price Check endorses your product.
• We may change or limit the API. Breaking changes will get a new version path (/api/v2/) rather than changing /api/v1/ answers.
